    Bike to Bayfield ‘08 – Day Two

    We had the most interesting stay at the Bad River Casino and Lodge. We did a little gambling yesterday with the “free” money that they give to you for staying with them. Katie and I also chose to go swiming and had a really interesting time… I had asked when we first check in if the pool and hot tub (so we could soak away the ride) were open and she said that they both were. We shot up stairs and put on our suits, grabbed our towels and came down to a hot tub that was closed… arg! We shrugged it off and then about 10 minuets into our swim, a lady from the front desk came in and asked us what we were doing. She then said that the pool was closed for the night (at 6 pm in the evening). I stated that the pool hours are until 11 pm and she, perplexed, just walked out… weird!!

    Anyways, Katie and I had a good continental breakfast and then headed out to a cool morning. We went south from Bayfield on our way home. We were lucky to stop by the Northern Great Lakes Visitors Center, along with a great place to eat – the Bella Culla Cheese and Italian Deli. By the time we hit the cheese place, Katie was ready for a little AC as it had warmed up pretty well in mid-Wisconsin. After some great cheese, and delicious pasta salad, we headed to Northfield, Minnesota to meet with my sister and parents for a nice meal. Then, we rode into the sunset and onto home.

    All-in-all it was a great trip, Katie had some fun and I was able to finish my National Parks Tour dream. We’re already planning our next trip together…
