Eastward Distraction - Day Five
By Thom | May 25, 2008
Rutland, VT to Hudson, NY
The day was filled with more tinkering with the bike and the carb tubes, thinking that some of the problem was with the fuel delivery, with how tight the carb boot were against the carbs and so on. We did drive around 45 miles down to pick up the trailer hitch for my car before going on to get a couple stamps.
With no luck with the bike and having beautiful weather with no a cloud in the sky, we just cruised all day and well into the night, well, a little too long into the night. We ended up in deer county and wanted to get off the road before Bambi and I met.
We looked into the AAA motel book and found a place with wireless internet, cheap price, and in the same town. Needless to say - it was a heck of a place!!
I’ll let the pictures explain:
Knife marks in the wall:
Jacuzzi that spit dirty, cruddy water all over the wall when my father first turned it on:
This window actually had a screen, but it had holes in it with a beautiful display of old wasp’s nests.
She told us that the place was fully booked, but I didn’t see anybody else hanging around…
Nice sign though

Set your course for 460 Long Lane, Jersey Shore, PA. That is the hangar that I work out of and there is a full set of metric tools, a 1500 LB motorcycle lift, a pair of carb boots and a spare engine sitting on the work bench. You are welcome to use the facility for your repairs and troubleshooting. I’ll be there between 9AM and 4:30PM the rest of the work week. Or call me at 570-398-3882. This is in Lycoming County, between Williamsport and Lock Haven. I’m just off Route 44. You turn left after the second bridge south of Jersey Shore at Antes Fort. Or, if you ar coming from Interstate 80, take the Rt 15 North exit and then turn left onto Rt 44 at Allenwood. About 23 miles up RT 44
