Eastward Distraction – Day Two

Day Two – Peru, IL to Sandusky, OH
What a beautiful day! Nothing but sunshine and cool temperatures as we skirted the great lakes. Three states were hit today on our way to the KOA campground ($15 – very cheap by KOA standards) including Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio.
After skirting Chicago’s traffice, we stopped for a National Park stamp east of Chicago at the Indiana National Lakeshore Dunes and didn’t venture out into them, but drove through. We took Highway 30 across the top of Indiana instead of the toll road to stay away from traffic and enjoy the country. Somewhere along the line we stopped in Amish country to get some provisions for later in the trip and hit up the action barn, but couldn’t find any cattle that looked sturdy enough to ride for the rest of the trip. We turned around in the Cedar Rapids amusement park’s parking lot and I almost taked my father into going for a couple of rides…
