Westward Distraction: Day Seventeen
By Thom | January 16, 2008
Denver, CO to Waseca, MN
Well, the big day finally arrives, I’m heading back home.
I was on the road around 5 a.m. as I wanted to get an early start and I wanted to avoid any traffic from Denver. It was kind of neat to watch the Rockies get lower and lower each time I looked over my left shoulder. I had planned on riding straight through to home after stopping at a couple N.P. in Nebraska. As I entered Wyoming I noticed that I could stop at the Sierra Trading Outlet store, but found out that they were not open until ten, and decided against it, as it would have put me too far behind schedule. I made good time as I pulled into my first N.P. of the day and was greeted with a big sign saying that I should watch out for snakes… great… my favorite. I beelined it for the next park and then tried to find a good way to hit interstate 90 for my big leg home. I ended up taking the back roads of Nebraska, which were full of road construction. I swore that there was one point that I drove 15 miles on one lane. I finally made it to SD and hit the old tarmack for the boring drive home, but was soon enough was sitting in Katie’s driveway. 17 days, 800 miles later… it was a good trip.
Der be hills in Nebraska
Good rock placement at Scott’s bluff
I rode like this for the last couple miles
A friend of mine once told me, that it’s nice to get a away for a while, but it’s nice to come home too…. I agree.
