Westward Distraction: Day Seven

Lola Hot Springs, ID to Yakima, Wa
Well, it has been some time since I was able to find a computer that worked. Yakima has a billion coffee shops but they are all just little drive up places. Man what a great drive from Lola, plenty of twisties and it was nice and cool all the way. The bike was running great, except that I discovered that I had a small coolant leak from the weep hole, but that is pretty common in the Silverwing; I’ll have to fix it sometime this winter. As I went, the smoke started to clear the farther I got down the road. I followed the river most of the way. Idaho and Washington have a nice speed limit, much better compared to the 75mph “guess” of Montana. That helps to keep my bike cooler and I get better gas mileage. As I passed through Walla Walla, WA I stopped at a fruit stand and found that I could buy fresh apples, peaches, pears, cherries, and onion – I bought some dough nut peaches (mmmmm good). Walla Walla has about 300 windmills, and out of that – only 2 were spinning as I passed. I stayed at a spendy Washington State Park for the night ($19 for the campsite plus a buck for a shower). Yeash!
Totals for the day:
Time 7:23
Avg Speed 55.5
Dist: 417
Alt 1630
I don’t know what they sell here:
Parting son/father shot
Kind of like Duluth’s lift bridge, only smaller
